These are the photographs taken at the meeting in December 1999 when guest speaker Prof. Mick Aston from Channel 4's "Time Team" told an audience of over 150 about the making of the programme.
The exhibition for the Society at the last Leyland Festival in June 2000. These boards feature the Society's activities (including the web site and a collection of old photographs of Leyland. Little did we know when we took these pictures that we were seeing the end of the Festival that has been going since 1889.
Here is pictured three members of the committee, Les (vote of thanks) Fowler, the Society's vice chairman, Shirley Robson and Joan Langford who was publishing her second book on Farington. This was its first day of sale.
This is part of the display by Edward Almond on the History of the Leyland Motors Sports & Athletic Club from the beginnings in the 1920's to the 1960's.
With President George Bolton on the left, Peter Houghton, Chairman presents the first copy of "The History of the Leyland Historical Society" to the original first Chairman of the Society from 1968, Norman Greenwood.

President George Bolton being presented with the "Historian of the Year" Trophy which is given for the best article in the "Layland Chronicle", the Society's annual publication. The presentation is being made by Dr Geoff Timmins who is the judge and also happened to be our speaker at the July 2000 meeting.

The final presentation of the July 2000 meeting was by Treasurer Edward Almond to Robert Barton for the competion in the Craft Tent at Leyland Festival. The prize was a signed copy of the Leyland in Pictures by Bill Waring and David Hunt. |
